Equality & Diversity

Endeavour Academy is committed to ensuring the equitable treatment and respect of all individuals within our provision, guaranteeing access to the highest standard of education and support. We wholeheartedly embrace and celebrate diversity, striving to educate students, families, and staff on the importance of mutual support and understanding. Our aim is to eliminate any instances of discrimination, harassment, or victimisation, following the principles of Making Every Contact Count (MECC) and adopting a restorative approach to nurture positive relationships within the school and wider community. Through our proactive promotion of inclusivity and empathy, we aim to cultivate a nurturing, inclusive environment conducive to the success and well-being of all individuals.

At Endeavour Academy, we pride ourselves on being an inclusive establishment that places paramount emphasis on the well-being and academic advancement of every learner. We firmly believe in the principle that all members of our community are of equal worth, fostering an environment where diversity is celebrated and embraced.

Recognising and appreciating the diverse population within our academy community, we strive to create a nurturing and supportive atmosphere where every individual feels valued and respected. Our commitment to inclusivity extends beyond the classroom, shaping our ethos and guiding our interactions to ensure that each student’s unique background and experiences are acknowledged and honoured.

Through our inclusive approach to education, we aspire to cultivate a culture of acceptance, understanding, and unity, equipping our learners with the skills and mindset necessary to thrive in an ever-evolving society. Endeavour Academy stands as a testament to the power of diversity in fostering growth, empathy, and shared success.

Diversity consists of visible and non-visible differences, which encompass factors such as age, gender, background, ethnicity, disability, religion, sexual orientation, personality, and work style. Our educational approach is built on the foundational belief that embracing these differences fosters a productive setting where all individuals feel respected and valued. By effectively leveraging varied talents, we collectively strive towards realising our shared vision and academy objectives.

Our objectives are:

  1. All learners are of equal value.
Whether or not they are disabled, whatever their ethnicity, culture, national origin or national status, whatever their gender and gender identity, whatever their religious or non-religious affiliation or faith background and whatever their sexual orientation.
  2. We recognise, respect and value difference and understand that diversity is a strength.
We take account of differences and strive to remove barriers and disadvantages which people may face, in relation to disability, ethnicity, gender, religion, belief or faith and sexual orientation. We believe that diversity is a strength, which should be respected and celebrated by all those who learn, teach and visit here.
  3. We foster positive attitudes and relationships.
We actively promote positive attitudes and mutual respect between groups and communities different from each other.
  4. We foster a shared sense of cohesion and belonging.
We want all members of our academy community to feel a sense of belonging within the academy and wider community and to feel that they are respected and able to participate fully in academy life.
  5. We observe good equalities practice for our staff.
We ensure that policies and procedures benefit all employees and potential employees in all aspects of their work, including in recruitment and promotion, and in continuing professional development.
  6. We have the highest expectations of all our students.
We expect that all students can make good progress and achieve their highest potential.
  7. We work to raise standards for all learners, but especially for the most vulnerable.
We believe that improving the quality of education for the most vulnerable groups of students raises standards across the whole academy.
