Consultation on a proposed expansion to Endeavour Academy
Apollo Schools Trust are undertaking a consultation regarding a proposal to expand its ‘Endeavour Academy’ alternative provision by incorporating a satellite site to educate more young people with additional barriers to regularly accessing mainstream educational settings. This proposal aligns with our commitment to providing high-quality education to a greater number of students in response to the needs of our communities.
School Information
Endeavour Academy is part of the Apollo Schools Trust, providing education for students in Key Stage 4, aged 14-16 years of age who have disengaged from mainstream settings and are experiencing difficulties with social, emotional and mental health. The school is located within East Durham College, Willerby Grove Campus, Peterlee, SR8 2RN.
The school have had 2 Ofsted inspections both of which were rated good with outstanding features;
25th June 2024
25th September 2018
The proposed changes would enable more students to access this provision.
The Proposal
The proposal is to expand Endeavour Academy over the next academic year onto an additional satellite site based at Biddick Academy. This does not affect the intake, size or structure of the current Endeavour Academy provision. This proposal will provide an extra 40 KS4 places above the school’s current 50 places, bringing the total school capacity to 90 places from 1st September 2025. It is anticipated that the first additional provision of 10 will be in operation from 1st September 2025, and the remaining places increasing gradually each academic year with all additional 40 places in operation before 1st September 2028.
As Endeavour, Free School, Alternative Provision is an academy, the expansion proposal would need approval by the Department for Education (DfE). We are therefore seeking the views of stakeholders through this consultation to inform the DfE’s decision making process on the following:
- The proposed satellite site to be included as an Endeavour Academy provision to meet the needs of up to 40 additional young people, taking the total Published Admission Number (PAN) to 90.
- The expansion of provision to span one additional site
Implications for:
Pupils: The proposal will allow for an increased number of places, allowing more students to access this high quality provision.
Staff: There will be no change to duties and conditions of service.
Other schools: The increase of 40 places would have minimum impact on other mainstream schools, however the increased capacity of alternative provision would support all schools in meeting the needs of students with significant SEMH needs.

The consultation period on this proposal is from Monday 19th May 2025 to Friday 6th June 2025 and we invite you to take part in the following ways:
